“Making Our Way: Autism” Coming to MPBN in Fall 2011

““Making Our Way: Autism” is a new documentary produced by Daniel Lambert for MPBN. Daily life for a child with autism is a challenge for the child and the family. Support IS available and “Making Our Way: Autism” is a television documentary on MPBN, showing how and where to access that network of support.

Through the telling of personal stories like Dr. Temple Grandin’s, an accomplished animal scientist and one of the most well-known adults with autism in the world, “Making Our Way” highlights the families who are coping with, and adjusting to the realities of Autism. Also included in this film is story of the Jackson Laboratory researcher who’s working towards a cure.

Easing the Burden: Parkinson’s disease

“Easing the Burden: Parkinson’s disease” is a MPBN documentary produced by Daniel Lambert that tells the human stories behind Parkinson’s disease. The film explores who these people are, how they cope and their fears and hopes surrounding Parkinson’s Disease. Michael J. Fox agreed to be part of the program, given that the Michael J. Fox Foundation funds and supports Parkinson’s based research being conducted right here in Maine at the Jackson Laboratory. Daniel traveled to Manhattan in May 2010 and interviewed Michael on Parkinson’s issues facing both himself and all Parkinson’s sufferers.

Caring for the Caregiver

Daniel Lambert produced the Emmy nominated Caring for the Caregiver for the Maine Public Broadcasting Network. Weaving interviews with health experts caring for Alzheimer’s patients with the personal experiences of Mainers who have suddenly found themselves dealing with the gradual, painful loss of a loved one, “Caring for the Caregiver” is designed for anyone who is now or who may one day need to confront this difficult reality. The program is hosted by MPBN’s Suzanne Nance.
